What this site stores on your device, when, and how to change your mind. Nothing non-essential is set until you say yes.
Last updated 12/10/2026
Short version: Until you choose, this site stores one thing on your device and that one thing is the record of you not having chosen yet.
Nothing Loads Before You Decide
No analytics, no tracking pixels, no embedded videos, no social media widgets, and no advertising. The fonts and images are served from this site rather than from anyone else's, so loading a page here does not tell a third party that you visited.
That is a deliberate choice, and it is why the banner you saw has a real Reject button that is exactly as easy to press as Accept.
What Is Stored
Always (Because the Site Cannot Work Without It):
| Name | Set By | What It Does | Kept For |
|---|---|---|---|
cb_consent |
This site | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics, so you are not asked on every page | 6 months |
cb_signup |
This site | Remembers that you closed the mailing list box, so it stays folded into a small button, or that you signed up, so it goes away | 6 months, or 2 years once you sign up |
These are exempt from the consent requirement, because each exists solely to record a choice you made. Refusing to store them would mean asking you the same question forever.
Only If You Accept Analytics
| Name | Set By | What It Does | Kept For |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Tells one browser apart from another, so a return visit is not counted as a new person | 2 years | |
_ga_* |
Keeps track of the current visit | 2 years |
These are set by Google Analytics, which I use to see which pages people actually read and which ones are ignored, and which buttons get pressed: which bakes are opened from the menu, and whether an order was sent. Nothing you type into the order form is sent to Google. I see counts and trends, never individuals.
If you accept: Google receives your IP address as part of that. Google uses it to work out roughly which country you are in and then discards it. I never see it. Google's own privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
If you reject: None of this loads at all. The Google script is not downloaded, so there is nothing to switch off afterwards.
Changing Your Mind
Use the Cookie Settings link in the footer of any page. It reopens the banner so you can change your answer at any time.
If you withdraw consent, the Google cookies are deleted and the page reloads so that no Google code is left running in it. A script that is already loaded cannot be "un-loaded."
You can also clear cookies in your browser or block them entirely. If you block everything, the site still works; you will just be asked about analytics again on your next visit, because your answer has nowhere to live.
To opt out of Google Analytics across every website you visit, Google publishes a browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Why You Will Be Asked Again
The banner comes back after 6 months, and sooner if I start using something that stores more than what is listed above. Consent is not meant to be permanent, and a 6-month expiry is the simplest way to keep it honest.
Questions?
What I do with the information you send me through the order form is a separate matter, covered by the privacy policy.
